to hunt in montana:

- Conservation License | Base Hunting License Fee | Carcass Tag and/or License for the species you are hunting

General Big game elk and deer combination license
Montana offers three general hunting packages to nonresidents:
- General Big Game Combination License (This is the most common license purchased by clients for combo hunts): $1,208
- General Elk Combination License (Elk only): $1,018
- General Deer Combination License (Deer only): $704
All combination licenses include a season fishing license and upland bird license. Conservation license, base hunting license fee,
and Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Pass (AISPP) must be purchased separately.
Are there special requirements for archery?
Yes. A Bow and Arrow license, plus the proper hunting licenses, is required during an Archery-only season for any species or to archery hunt in an Archery-only area or hunting district.
To purchase a Montana bow and arrow license, a hunter must:
- Complete the bowhunter education course from Montana or any other state –or–
- Show any prior year's bowhunting license from any state or province.
Bear License
A bear license from the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) costs $350.
